New flavours for a new month!!

Hey all!! The month has changed, the Melbourne weather has proven our 4 weathers in one day and flavours on the CODA dessert menu has changed too.

This week we have..

Freshly made honeycomb

CODA bar 'Crunchy'

Who loves Honeycomb!!! I DO!! So, I have created the Honeycomb chocolate to satisfy the chocolate lovers taste bud of Cadbury's Crunchy. The layers inside the Michel Cluizel dark chocolate mould starting from the bottom are, the rice puffs, valrhona chocolate creme, honey white chocolate mousse, honeycomb and caramel honey ice cream. Creamy and full of flavour and texture, I'm sure this one is a winner..enough to lick the plate literally!!

Coconut Pannacotta w compressed melons, lychee sorbet and crispy wild rice

The sweet special of the week is the pannacotta. Being popular in the past, this dish is light, creamy and delightful with a few variations. The melons are cantelope and honeydew. They are sliced into 5mm pieces and are then vacuum packed on maximum suction to create the clear visual.

Mango soufflĂ© w blackberry ice cream and coconut crumble

The sweetness of the mango married to the creamy berry ice cream goes so well, I secretly eat this ice cream all the time. The coconut crumbs just adds to the buttery rich goodness and also adds the crunch!!

Coconut and mango filled macaron

This was a flavour trial before I made the souffle. The sweet coconut macarons are filled with a mango jam.

Mini flourless orange cake with cream cheese frosting

Smooth creamy caramel fudge with a teeny pinch of flake salt

All these sweet bites were available on the menu, but right this minute we have the fudge. Salt makes a massive difference to caramel these days, its amazing!! Not too much, just the tiniest flake. haha

I hope I gave you enough eye candy to get your taste buds salivating!!! Have a great day!!

San Telmo

Good Morning everyone!! I had checked out this restaurant last week with a friend and it was amazing!!! Thought I would share it with you guys!

San Telmo is an Argentinian bar and restaurant whose menu is designed upon their massive 2.5m parrilla (char -grill). The grilled smokey flavours of the meat on the menu is balanced out with fresh flavours from salads, vegetable dishes and small starters like the ceviches and empanadas. The food is designed to share and that way you have a great combination of dishes.

My friend and I start on...

Ostra

Tasty, creamy, fresh!!

Morcilla

Blood sausage! This dish was beautiful!! It was rich and full of flavour!! Very YUMMMY!!!

Lengua y Mejillas

Grilled tongue and braised beef cheek. The texture and taste of the tongue was just so yummy. The beef cheek was so soft, moist and tasted slightly sweet.

Ceviche

There are 2 types of ceviche dishes on the menu. We chose the white fish, chilli, sweet potato and ginger. Refreshing on the mouth however I would have preferred this come out after the oysters before the meat dishes. The flavours were tangy lemon marinated fish with chilli, radish and mini cubes of sweet potato.

Ensalada de Palmitos

The salad included, palm heart, poached pickled pear, jamon and buffalo mozzarella. The combined textures and flavours of tangy, salty and creamy was very WOW!!! It was delicious!! The pear was quite powerful but  accompanying our next dish, it was perfect!!

Ojo de Bife

It was a 350g Hopkins River scotch fillet. Cooked to perfection!!! It was seasoned very well, had a nice smokey grill flavour and the right amount of fat to make it moist. YUMMY!!! It also came with 2 little sauce bowls which contained Chimichurri and some type of salsa vinaigrette. Great with grilled meat!!

We also ordered extra sides of..

Papas

Brocoli

Crispy potato galette was a simple dish of sliced potato layered with butter and/or cream and seasoned with salt, pepper and herbs. It was yummy, rich and the potato used was slightly sweet. The broccoli was lightly battered and fried with grated salted ricotta on top.

Flan deluce de leche

The flan is served with salted peanut caramel. Deluce de leche is a thick, creamy, caramel like milk based spread. Of course I had to order dessert!! haha It was sweet, crunchy and very caramel.

My friend and I enjoyed our meal and had a blast catching up about old times!! It made the experience more memorable!! I loved the food here at San Telmo and will definitely be back!!
