The Past...

I had a chat to my friend about Deep fried ice cream tonight and it took me back to when I was younger. Most Chinese / Vietnamese restaurants have this dish on their menu. It's a childhood memory along with the banana fritter or the lychee (from a can) and vanilla ice cream. It's the hot crunch from the outter layer to the cold hard center which heats and cools your mouth at the same time. It's all about the crumbing and the temperature of the ice cream to stop it from splattering and dissolving in the fryer. So, to get your taste buds salivating, I'm just posting a picture of my version of deep fried ice cream I created last year...(drool).

Deep fried vanilla bean ice cream, lemon curd filling and Lemon saffron sauce

And since we are on the topic of Asian desserts, I went to Passionflower, an asian dessert chain which had started in Sydney. They've opened a Melbourne store in the CBD on the corner of Russell and Bourke St. I like their originality selling desserts only. They have a range of ice cream flavours to choose from including the weird asian ones such as durian and taro..  So, yes..I'm still a typical Asian chick hanging out in Chinatown eating asian goods! (You're totally missing out if you haven't tried durian ice cream, chicken feet, baby duck embryo, preserved egg.. just to name a few) But Since I enjoyed myself tonight.. you guys can watch me eat!

Final fantasy: Black sesame ice cream, coconut ice cream, grass jelly and condensed milk.

Cookie me up: Cookies 'n' cream ice cream, Triple choc bikkie and chocolate fudge.

Gnight!! xx
